Artwalk, featuring artist Hank Williams Fuller
I am a Billings native who has always enjoyed looking at and making Art. The creative process helps me keep my bare feet on the ground and my spirit to soar in the Big Sky, riding the thermal updrafts above the rimrocks. The monumental Eagle Sandstone formations have been home and habitat for millennia ; a canvas of pictographs and petroglyphs and even places of eternal rest for the bones of First Peoples and the dinosaurs. The cliffs and caves and the sandy niches are wonderful places to commune with the wise Spirits of Elders who seem to inhabit the sandstone by way of the rusty concretions found there.
Like those that came before I avail myself to the cathartic healing experience that comes from absorbing and then painting what I can see and feel and learn of these magical places.
I am humbled and grateful to the people responsible for creating, preserving and protecting areas such as “Four Dances” and “Pictograph State Park” so others will be able to celebrate and create for themselves a similar spiritual connection to the the land.
It is to this end I hope my paintings will excite interest in others and also enable me to share some of the precious impressions that the magic and mystery of these places has instilled within me.
